Medulla Communications has developed a unique identity through it’s medical strategy and advisory services. When the agency was founded, we noticed an opportunity in the market for medical strategy and advisory services – a number of agencies were offering medical content development services but no agency that helped develop marketing strategies for healthcare professionals or consumer education or even helped Marketing teams answer simple queries like:

- What are the claims that I can make for my product or brand?
- Will my product show benefit for a new target group or do I need to reformulate it?
- Are these the correct product benefits that I am testing for in my consumer research?
- How long will it take for my product to show a benefit or for how long will it’s effect last?
- Which are the medical guidelines that support or go against my product or therapy?

Our medical strategy and advisory services have been developed to answer queries just like these and many more. We work closely with marketing teams – typically on a retainership basis – to prepare ground-up strategies for healthcare professional communication as well as consumer education plans.

When in the healthcare space – be it consumer brands or pharmaceutical brands – the healthcare professional (HCP) typically plays the role of an influencer by prescribing, recommending or endorsing these brands. This role cannot be ignored and makes the HCP a critical point of contact in the healthcare marketing process. Medulla brings to the table a comprehensive understanding of all HCPs – general practitioners, specialists, surgeons, pharmacists, nurses or paramedical staff – through a team that brings in years of experience in HCP sales and marketing functions.

When brands demonstrate expertise in the consumer healthcare categories, it is often by educating and supporting consumers. What’s more, in a number of consumer healthcare categories, the product is just one factor in helping the consumer achieve the end-benefit – so the consumer may not want a low-trans fat oil but she does want a brand that helps her family stay heart-healthy - and such brands often have to play consumer education roles.
Medulla supports consumer healthcare brands in educating consumers through it’s deep understanding of consumers, robust scientific expertise and experience in engaging consumers through new and varied media.
